I have been donating to our local womens shelter in both cities where I have lived, this year the local christmas drive have requested hats, scarves, mittens, etc. Thats where I will donate this year. Love this idea.

There is a form on our charity page to fill out so I have all of the details so I can process it. Be sure to fill one out if you want to be listed. 🙂 it’s the only way I can stay organized and have the form on file to work with.

Hi We love this idea, but I’ve been trying for over a week to connect to the page to get our charity in London, Ontario listed and every time I click the link, I get an Error 404 …. can’t locate. Can you help me please? Thanks sooo very much in advance! Please send me an email.

I think I’ve found it after a few minutes poking around the site:

          http://thecrochetcrowd.com/charity-locator/

I’ve found a few problems with the links to the locator page.

          * When you mouse over some links, the link shows “/groups-charity-locator” (“groups” isn’t part of the correct link)

          * Some of the trouble may be due to our locations (I’m in Canada, so some links include “/en/” between thecrochetcrowd.com and “charity-locator”)

          * At least one link was to “knotjustyarnblog.com” rather than “thecrochetcrowd.com” – I’m guessing there is a small mistake in the coding. I’m out of time or I’d see if I could find it.

I hope you’re all able to find a group or charity in your area! There are none here in BC. I’ve been planning to make things to donate to a local domestic abuse shelter once I learn more.

Great idea! I have wanted to contribute to a few charities but couldn’t because shipping was very expensive. I would love to find groups in my area.

Brilliant!!! I moved out of state and I left most of my stash and I’m missing it and having fellow crocheters to talk with. This will be great!!!

I think this is long overdue! How many people want to help, or donate and can’t even begin to know where to look?!? Too many! It never occurred to me to actually try to start a service like this….You have the resources to do it right, too! Here, you can add us as a member! “Krewe de Fiberistas” located in the Milton, FL area (postal code 32570) let me know if you need more info than that!

I think this is great. Previously, I had been shipping blankets from Illinois to San Diego to a charity called Stitches from the Heart because I found it difficult locating charities in my area. Last year I participated in a challenge to crochet 12 hats for preemies that they asked you to donate to a hospital in my area. Turns out most of the hospitals would not accept these donations from an individual, only from organizations. I also shipped baby blankets to Parkland Hospital in Texas when they put out a plea on Facebook that they needed blankets. I hope this service grows and more organizations are listed so those of us who have the time to make these blankets do not also have to spend a fortune shipping them to other areas when they may be a need in our own area. Thanks Mikey.

I’ve become a blanketeer member for our local southwest Missouri Linus Project and we can always use more blankets. The need is great.

I think this is a great idea! I do make so many things for charity but then sometimes just can’t find anyone locally to take them.
