Do the blankets have to be made out of Caron United yarn? Or could they be made from red heart or Caron simply soft?

I’ve done a red square and sent it off to the Canadian site. Didn’t realize it was for 2015 so if I can, I will do a second one later this year too. Great Project. Where can we see the progress of the square collection and sewing together?? Thanks, Nancy from Ottawa, On , CA

I have started making the burgundy crocheted square. I couldn’t find the Caron yarn, so I’m using the Red Heart yarn with your straight crocheted square pattern. I am making it abit different as I’m working in the front and back loops to fancy up the regular design. I first thought that I had to send it in by the end of this year, but just read that it is for Christmas 2015 and will be entered in for the Guinness Worlds Record for 2015. Now I can work on on some Christmas crocheting for gifts this year and then I’ll get back to the Stocking Square.

I crocheted two of the burgundy “squares” and sent them off to Caron. Thanks for letting us know about this project. I’m always eager to participate in anything that will support our military families.

Sorry… that was my fault… I think granny when I hear the word squares… Let me correct.

there is another set of patterns…there are these that are posted and another set which the crocheted one consists of 25 little grannies together to form one bigger one and the other knit one is the seed stitch. I was on another site this morning that had the granny and seed stitch patterns…I had already downloaded the ones here yesterday…so yes Mikey…there are granny squares…lol

Kathleen, did you find the crocheted pattern that was included in the you tube video? If so, could you tell me where you found it. dgatlin51@gmail.com
