Meet Susan Lowman
I’ve had the pleasure to meet Susan Lowman at the Knit and Crochet Show in July 2014.
In sitting with others and asking people to point out people who are movers and shakers in the crochet world, Susan Lowman’s name comes up a lot.
For myself, I don’t go to many conferences where the designers tend to meet up. I usually don’t recognize them or I don’t put the two and two together to realize I have done patterns they have designed.
Today, I tend to look at the designers name first before deciding a project. Each designer has their own crochet niche in the way they speak in their patterns and the ideas that are bouncing around their head.
In many ways, I feel intimidated by the designers. Susan approached me to introduce herself and was so gentle and sweet. She is the blogger behind The Crochet Architect. My friends, definitely a great blog to check out. Her presentation is fabulous. She teaches and instructions with key concepts on her blog.
Susan was telling me her fascination with Wiggy Crochet. I love when a designer is passionate about a certain technique and is happy to share about it.
In fact, here is an article called Wiggly Crochet Tutorial by Susan Lowman to demonstrate how the wiggly crochet is done.
Once you see the technique, you can gain enough courage to think about everyday items in your home to make pot holders, coasters and if you feel really ambitious, big projects like throw pillows and more.
Susan Lowman is a certified crochet instructor and well respected behind the scenes and is certainly approachable. You can see many of her designs and learn more on her Ravelry Page.
When looking at designs you like, keep an eye on the designer’s name. Chances are if you like one of their designs, you will most likely adore other designs by them. Remember, there are real people behind the designs. Take an opportunity to research who they are.
