In the past few years, the website known as the E-Tent hosted the clearance yarns as showcased on Yarnspirations.
Over the years, there were some key complaints that were consistent by consumers. They were as follows:
- I don’t want to buy the yarn by the bag.
- I want to add some discontinued colours to some other yarns that are not discontinued. Why can’t there not be a choice to mix my order?
- Why can’t I see how much the yarn is in Canadian Dollars?
So, in listening to consumers, they took the advice of customers and made some significant changes, which included moving the E-Tent website to Yarnspirations. It’s all under one roof now.
The term E-Tent has been retired.
What are Discontinued Shades?
Many of the yarn brands have a significant colour array that is offered. Some retailers may choose only a few shades. For example, Caron One Pound has 39 shades. How many have you counted on the shelves in your local retailer? There’s only so much shelf space on the store shelves. Yarnspirations.com is the home of this yarn. So you are not limited to shelf space limitations and can order in the shades that may not be available to you.
Like the fashion industry, yarn has colour updates. Every year, the yarns are reviewed to ensure they are colour relevant. They also review on which colours were not as popular and they have significant extra stock. If this happens, they discontinue shades. In some cases, complete yarn brands may be discontinued completely.
You should know though, once a yarn colour has been assigned to the Discontinued Shades, it’s no longer being made. You are on final notice that this yarn will be completely gone once it sells out from this section.
Like the Tent Sales, people are buying discontinued shades. They stock up at the low prices.
By the Ball
The yarn is now being sold by the ball. This means you can select the colours in quantities that may be inline with your projects.
Yarnspirations.com has the Currency Change Over on the upper right of the website. This will show you the currency exchange. The exchange rate is current and fluctuates as the Canadian Dollar floats within the market.
The website is showing USD automatically.
So if you are Canadian, like me, you can flip the CDN Dollar on and it will show you the yarn in Canadian Dollars. When you are ready to check out, it will still charge you the USD but you can confidently know what the prices were in Canadian before you checked out. So while your credit card will be in USD, the exchange rate shown is the same on the day you made the purchase. So there are no surprises.
