Hi Mikey, I will be 93 years young in May. Was able to get the Baby Bundle yarn at my local JoAnns. Am getting ready to start my Step 2 of the pattern. The yarn is quite a challenge, but I refuse to be beaten.

I’m struggling with putting stitches into the pipsqueak. I took the diagram & wrote the sc count next to each and am counting since I can’t see the stitches. Is there an easier way to do this? I want to get the stitch count correct.

If your guage width is 4 inches, but the height is 5.5 to 6 inches, what should you do? Which dimension is more important the width or height?

I have tried this several times and my points are not distinct. I am working with the bulky yarn portion, could that be it. I finally have the five points, not six but five. That magic number. I did notice in the video your chain 6s are very open, again I am on the bulky fuzzy yarn portion for the chain 6. I am determined to succeed. Thanks

On the guage swatch I got the 4″ with the 7 sts on the row but it did not take as many rows to make the 4″. Is that ok? I am not a skilled crocheted.

I made several swatches, and the width is 4 inches, but the length of 8 rows is 4 1/2 to 5 inches. Any suggestions? And will it matter if I crochet left-handed?

My swatch is 7 stitches wide but only 6 rows tall for a 4 inch square. Is that ok?

Try going to a smaller hook. I tried with a N 10 mm and ended up needing to use a L 8.00 to obtain gauge.

I am so glad you emphasized crocheting a gauge swatch. I followed your tutorial and it turns out I will need to buy an L hook. If you wouldn’t have suggested doing this I wouldn’t have bothered and my “blankie” wouldn’t have laid right. You are a great teacher, thanks Mikey!

I did the gauge swatch and I have 7 stitches across for the 4 inches but I only have 6 rows for 4 inches. Is that a problem?

I’m so excited for this Crochet-A-Long… I just happened to stumble across it, cuz I picked up a skein of Baby Bundle yarn (colour is Play Pink), back in January, and didn’t know what to do with it when I came across the skein again a week ago. I’m so glad that 1) I can pick it up here in Canada at Walmart, and 2) that they came out with more colours 😀
When I came across your link here, Mikey, I ran out to Walmart and bought 3 more skeins just so I could join in on the Crochet-A-Long, I love them! I’m anxiously awaiting the 20th to roll around to start the project! 😀

I can’t find Baby Bundle Yarn anywhere. My local JoAnn store says there are only 2 or 3 skeins available in a few stores in the nation, but none at my local store. Any suggestions? I don’t want to miss out on this stitch along!

I just checked JoAnn’s on-line store again this morning. This time it let me purchase the yarn and it said it was in my local store for pickup. Perhaps they received a shipment right after I asked for it two days ago. I’m so excited!

when you first posted this, Joann.com had very few colors. Now, they don’t have anything at all. I went to the store anyway and get had all the colors. So do not always trust the online store. I do live in the same area as Joann headquarters. So that might be why the store has all the colors becasue it is the store is attached to their headquarters.
While playing with the yarn, I am a little nervous about crocheting with the furry pipsqueak portion. Is that part tricky?

How many rows are in the main part of this afghan (not counting the border rows)? I’m planning on using 2 colors for the main body and want to figure out how I want to stripe the rows to get them even. Thanks!

I’m not sure at this time. I’ve not received the final pattern write up. I only have a rough draft and things may have changed. For my practice sample, I did change the colours every 2 rows using two different colours. Worked out great. I used 2 balls of each colour. The project needs 4 balls total. Hopefully that helps you.

I can’t find the Bernet Baby Bundle yarn on the website or at my local store. They said they haven’t heard about this new yarn. Where can I purchase it? This sounds like a 6 ply yarn using such a large needle. Am I correct?

I love The Crochet Crowd, even from all the way from Australia, Melbourne.

I have already done one of the crochet-a-long mystery blankets, loved making it as well as any other pattern references on the site.

And to Mikey, your videos are excellent and easy to follow. Keep up the great work!

    Mikey,
Bernat Baby Blanket yarn comes in 10.5 oz. balls and 3.5 oz. balls. Which do we need 4 of? I can not use polyester yarn, but I have a beautiful size 6 wool yarn I would like to use if I have enough.

Thank You Michael for sharing your expertise as it sure helps us beginners to see it being done rather than a diagram. I’m 68 craft-a-aholic, know the basic SC, DC, Triple Crochet and the slip stitch. Still haven’t seen the stitch in only the back or front though – I’m sure I will very shortly!

I am new to the Crochet Crowd crochet-a-long and I see we need 4 skeins of yarn, but I am not seeing what size hook you recommend. Please advise! I am looking forward to my first attempt with this yarn. I’ve always felt a little intimidated by the Bernat yarn, although I’ve always loved the colors!!! Thanks!
