Meet the Fans
On January 31, 2015 I had the opportunity to be part of Mary Maxim’s Grand Opening of their new store in London, Ontario. They are located at 1025 Wellington Road South, in London Ontario.
I had the wonderful opportunity to meet one of the founding members of The Crochet Crowd back from our birth year in 2008. Diane Bolt, has been with us since the beginning. She has watched us grow as a community. She has shared a ton of WIPS, finished projects and has provided 1000’s compliments to crocheters within our community over the years.
I was truly touched to meet Diane and finally our paths cross after 7 years of cyber knowing each other. Diane is like an anchor support of The Crochet Crowd. Like many other crocheters how have ‘done their time’ with us. They know our style, help others adapt to our community and provide the encouragement that is lacking in everyday society.
I will admit to you all though, I didn’t realize she was so much fun to hang with. She’s a girl I would want at a Stitch’n Bitch Session. You would learn stuff, laugh along and create a life long fun memory at the same time.
I also met Patti from Calgary. No… she didn’t fly out to come to Mary Maxim. In fact, she didn’t even know I was going to be at the store. Her party wore the Challenge Women’s Peaked Hat in the store and they mentioned to the staff at Mary Maxim that it’s part of The Crochet Crowd’s challenge. They found out instantly I would be at the store. They waited for my arrival and it was a real pleasure to meet someone as equally passionate about crochet.
I met many fans from long timers to as recently as a week old at the store. I sat with one girl who just decided to pick up the hook last week. She was trying to making squares but they were not being square. Instead of telling her to how to do it. We sat for a half hour quietly together as I shared with her some tips through hands on experience of her doing her own example. I love to teach and share skills. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Diva Dan took many photos during that day. The store got really busy but the pictures don’t look like it. We were tucked in the back of the store out of the foot traffic area. Loved the store, loved the visit and I had a wonderful time.
