Question / Concern
I would like you to say my name, company name and/or Facebook page to increase my sales and/or to increase my Facebook subscribers. How do I get Mikey to do that?
This request is one of the most asked questions for us. Unfortunately, my answer usually ends up in hard feelings and getting a reputation of not working well with others.
The Crochet Crowd was developed by sheer honest to god hard work. Thousands of hours of research and much more. Companies and/or individuals request this as they would to skip the natural growing stages and have a sudden boost of new followers or sales a result of myself mentioning them on Facebook. Essentially, you are asking me to endorse your company and give you a positive referral.
It is better to have followers that like your company based on your level of service, interaction and behavior in the social media. Though an instant shout out will immediately inflate your subscribers, it’s short lived if you are not spending the time to maintain and build your audience.
Most requests that come in are from companies or individuals that I have never heard of before and/or haven’t done business with directly. Followers trust my judgement and I need to be extremely careful on giving a shout out to referring the company/individual.
I rarely mention another company/service unless there’s a direct relationship and/or know factual information to base my opinion on. Our community is about inspiration and ideas. I don’t feel comfortable and feel it’s unethical to give a positive review or referral when I don’t known the facts for myself.
We have adopted a policy in December 2013 to no longer do shout outs to businesses that are not directly involved in The Crochet Crowd.
