After our nutcrackers were completed, we realized that our Nutcrackers would be amazing on exhibit after Creativ Festival. The development of The Crochet Crowd is a dream, so we know dreams and ideas can come true if you set your mind to it and put your thoughts into actions.
We put out the information that we would love it if our Nutcrackers could go on exhibit at the Four Season Opera Hall in Toronto for the performances of the Nutcracker for this season. We reached out to a couple people with influential contacts.
How things come to be aren’t always the path that you have planned.
While at Creativ Festival, a woman approached me. She was in awe of the Nutcrackers and said those need to be at the Nutcracker Ballet. I was thrilled and said, “Yes we know, but we don’t know anyone that can make that happen!” She smiled and ever so calmly said, “I work there, let me see if I can make that work for you.”
To my surprise, she wasn’t working for the Four Seasons Opera Hall but she works at the National Arts Centre of Ottawa.
Like a silly school boy, I was trying to contain my excitement as I felt I was dancing on air. Daniel was busy with other guests and I am about to explode all over the place. Just even the thought we would be considered is beyond thrilling for us.
Kevin, Karen, Daniel and I put so much work into our exhibit, to think it will not be going into storage after Creativ Festival was amazing. I broke the news to Kevin. Have you ever seen a straight man get excited? He bobbed up and down and said “I’m so happy!” Truth is, I’m proud of our entire team.
Our contact quickly followed up a few days after the show as she presented the idea of having our exhibit in the main lobby of the National Arts Centre. Yarnspirations then stepped up to the plate to help us with shipping our Nutcrackers.
On Exhibit Dec 2 – 6, 2015
It is with great honour that our Nutcrackers are allowed to be at any National Arts Centre in our great Nation of Canada. To be at the capital where our influential leaders can possibly witness our crochet creativity leaves us in awe. To allow the public to have a public viewing of our crochet nutcrackers, which allows for photography, is thrilling.
Our Nutcrackers will be on the Red Stage in the Lobby for Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Our creativity will be roped off to protect our artwork but the public welcome to take photos while visiting the National Arts Centre.
We would sincerely like to thank the National Arts Centre of Ottawa for being so gracious to allow our creativity into the centre for an exhibit. I would like to thank Yarnspirations for assisting us with the shipping of the Nutcrackers to the ballet. Thank you sincerely for believing in us. We are so excited.
