Take a closer look at this pattern and notice the deep cutout grooves, which are called the crochet waffle stitch. Unique to this pattern is that the waffles are going in a chevron or wave formation. In person, it's a heavy blanket, and with the highlighting of shadows, it's truly a stunning crochet blanket. This is the Crochet Waffle Waves Stitch Blanket pattern.
This pattern is a bit tough to start, but once the stitches start to make sense, you will see the consistency and the following of the grooves, making this blanket a fast project.
Please note that the download has an extensive crochet diagram that isn't shown in this article.

Stitch Multiple for Changes
If you would like to change the size of this blanket, it's multiples of 24 chains + 2. It's a yarn eater, so be sure to have lots of yarn on hand if you are changing the size.
You can also change the hook and yarn itself. The yarn below is Red Heart Bitty Stripes, and you can see how it looks in a medium #4 yarn, too.

Rep the 3rd to 8th rows until your project reaches the desired length. Fasten off. You can end on any row and use as much of the yarn as you have.
