Relaxed and fun knit slouchy that resembles an old-fashioned sleep cap but with today's modern colours of the Caron Chunky Cupcakes. The yarn exclusive to Michaels is updated with new colouring that is wildly addictive. The yarn includes the complementary pom pom to go with the colouring of the yarn.
The colour sequence repeats 12 times before the entire sequence begins again. It's pretty awesome to knit with.

Yarn
Caron Chunky Cupcakes, 100g / 3.5 oz, 138 meters / 126 yards.
- Prismatic - 1 Ball
Needles: Sizes 5.5 mm (U.S. 9) circular knitting needles that are 18” from tip to tip and a set of 5 double point knitting needles 5.5 mm / (U.S. 9).
Size: Average Adult
Gauge: 16 stockinette sts and 23 rows = 4” [10
- Beg = Beginning.
- K = Knit
- K2tog = Knit next 2 stitches together
- P = Purl
- Rem = Remaining
- Rep = Repeat
- RS = Right side
- St(s) = Stitch(es)
- Tog = Together
Instructions
Note: You will work in a continuous round. Use the tail end of the beginning to indicate when you go around.
Use 18” circular knitting needles and cast on 72 sts.
1st rnd: *K2, P2. Rep from * around.
Rep 1st rnd until brim measures 2” thick.
Body of Hat
1st rnd: K around.
Rep 1st round until the entire hat measures 8”.
Preparation Round
Knit around but transfer the stitches onto double-point needles. Each of the 4 needles should have 18 stitches each by the end of the round. 72 sts.
Note: Each needle has a multiple of 3 multiples of 6 sts.
Shape Top
Place a stitch marker at the start of the round to keep easier count of the rounds.
1st rnd: *K10, k2tog. Rep * around. 66 sts.
2nd and 3rd rnds: K around. 66 sts.
4th rnd: *K9, k2tog. Rep * around. 60 sts.
5th and 6th rnds: K around. 60 sts.
7th rnd: *K8, k2tog. Rep * around. 54 sts.
8th rnd: K around. 54 sts.
9th rnd: *K7, k2tog. Rep * around. 48 sts.
10th rnd: K around. 48 sts.
11th rnd: *K6, k2tog. Rep * around. 42 sts.
12th rnd: K around. 42 sts.
13th rnd: *K5, k2tog. Rep * around. 36 sts.
14th rnd: K around. 36 sts.
15th rnd: *K4, k2tog. Rep * around. 30 sts.
16th rnd: K around. 30 sts.
17th rnd: *K3, k2tog. Rep * around. 24 sts.
18th rnd: *K2, k2tog. Rep * around. 18 sts.
19th rnd: *K1, k2tog. Rep * around. 12 sts.
20th rnd: K2tog around. 6 sts.
Cut a long tail to gather the rem loops on the needles and draw up tightly and fasten securely.
Attach the pom pom with a bow tie to remove it easily if needed.
