Free Corner to Corner Meets Modern Granny Baby Blanket Pattern

What are two balls of Bernat Super Value lingering in my yarn collection going to make? Of course, the answer is to create a design that can use a limited amount of yarn. I wondered about mixing two of the crocheter's favourite stitches: the corner-to-corner stitches and the modern granny stitch concept.

With two balls, the size is limited to essentially a scarf or even a baby blanket. I like crochet baby blankets as I can enrich my community's local Family Resource Centre.

People love a yarn donation, and many of us, including myself, have yarn to spare to help others. This pattern would also be great for giving a blanket to a friend or family member as a new baby blanket.

Corner to corner (C2C) meets Modern Granny for a two-evening crochet baby blanket project to make.

Please note there is tension in corner to corner that isn’t in the modern granny stitching. The hook needs to be larger for the corner-to-corner centre to help compensate for the tension. When starting the modern granny part, you must decrease the hook to align the tension.

5th to 12 rnds: Repeat 3rd and 4th rounds. Fasten off.

The tension of the corner to corner centre will be tighter than that of the modern granny. Slightly dampen the blanket, stretch it, and let it air dry flat to block.

I have been using the modern granny stitch as a border for my c2c blankets for nearly 10 years. It is the one stitch that preserves the c2c stitches and provides a visually appealing border. I love that you have used it here.
