Mikey is buoy obsessed, living in Nova Scotia, Canada. He collects used buoys from the fishing industry to decorate the interior and exterior of his home. Crazy... probably, but they are generally colourful and even the ugly colours work for providing accent decor.
Mikey playfully named these The Crochet Flat Buoy Slims.

Mikey came up with a soft version intended for indoors. It could be used as decor for a cabin, holiday space, and more. It is also easy to wash in case it gets dusty.

Make a second buoy before proceeding to the border.
Assembly
Put the two panels of the buoys together with the wrong sides facing each other.
TIP: The border will hold both panels together for the thickness and overall look.
1st rnd: Attach with sl st to any corner going through both panels simultaneously. Evenly space sc around. For 90-degree corners, place 3 sc in the corner to turn. The corners are the top of the buoy by open hole; have only 2 sc in the corners. Join with sl st at the end of the round and fasten off.
Cord - Tunisian
- FwP = Forward pass
- Loh = Loop(s) on hook
- Lp(s) = Loop(s)
- Rep = Repeat
- RetP = Return pass
- Tss = Tunisian Simple Stitch
Change your hook to 5 mm / H/8 and use Red Heart Super Saver.
Chain 3.
Foundation Row (FwP): Keeping all lps on the hook, working in back
bump sk first bump from the hook (the lp on the hook is the first ch) and draw up a lp in each ch across. 3 loh.
RetP: Ch 1. Yoh and pull through two loops (twice).
Next Row: Tss across. RetP: Ch 1. Yoh and pull through two loops (twice).
Rep last row until the rope is 28” long. Bind off. Do not cut or weave in tail ends.
Using one tail end and your crochet hook. Insert the crochet hook into the buoy near the top so it goes through the hole on both panels. Wrap one tail end and pull the tail end with half of the cord through. Even up the cord so it’s equal lengths.
Weave in the ends on both ends of the cord.
Do an overhand knot tie.
PS. Mikey gifted his sample to a worker when he was crocheting the testing one for this gentleman, as he wanted it as a gift for his wife.
