This large crochet blanket measures 70" square and has 25 squares. It is completely adjustable by changing the number of squares. It is called the Bean Cap Stitch Blanket, and it uses the bean cap crochet stitch. This 12-page pattern consists of photographs, written instructions, a crochet diagram, and oodles of tips.

This was designed for the Jimmy Beans Retreat in 2023. You could have fun with the colour play for this but I really just wanted one colour for the entire blanket and let the texture speak to itself.

Each square is 12" x 12" square. The stitch itself can be stitched pretty quickly as it's a really tall stitch.

You will see the assembly has you turning the squares so it appears as a parquet floor.

Circling each square should have 31 sc between each of the corners. Do not count the 3 sts in each corner as part of the 31 sts. The beginning chain and last row has 31 stitches between the corners. The side edging has to be equally spaced so that each side has the same amount of stitches for puzzling together.

Border rnd: RS. Ch 1, 3 sc in corner st. 1 sc in next 31 sc. 3 sc in last stitch. Equally space 31 sc across side ensuring the 31st sc is just before the corner. 3 sc in corner stitch. 1 sc across bottom chain side  in next 31 sts. 3 sc in last stitch. Equally space 31 sc across side ensuring the 31st sc is just before the corner. Join with sl st to beg sc. Fasten off.

See free downloadable for the joining instructions and photography.

Mikey this is such a pretty stitch and makes a beautiful throw. I am going to attempt it but may be whispering in your ear when i get to joining squares. Its a shame you are so far away. Thanks for all you do. It is so easy to learn new things from you. Have a wonderful day.
