Mikey's Preferred Crochet Hooks on Camera and In-Person

Mikey has a preferred crochet hook that can be found on Amazon, and you will likely be able to see it on various Amazon platforms worldwide. There are two sets of crochet hooks that he has, and he has several sets.

I discovered these hooks in 2019 and switched the preference of the hooks. They are generic hooks found on Amazon. I have been using them for six years, and only one has ever broken in all this time. They are pretty inexpensive on Amazon.

Not only is the rubberized handle well fitting to the hand, but the length of the hook is more extended than typical crochet hooks, so it doesn't jab the inside palm of your hand. They extend past Mikey's hand so he doesn't have interference with the hook on his crochet.

There is also a second set of crochet hooks that Mikey uses for larger sizes that look similar. The hooks go up to 10 mm / N/15. The handles are thicker to accommodate the thickness of the metallic hook.

The lengths are the same distance, so they are comfortable in the hand with the rubber handle and grip.

The colouring you see is rubberized, so it's comfortable for the hand, but there is a strong feature that is why they are Mikey's favourite hooks of all. It's all about the length of the hook.

    Length of Crochet Hooks
    Length of Crochet Hooks

These hooks are slightly longer than average crochet hooks. From the tip to the end of the handle, they are 6.5" long. Typical hooks are generally 5.5" long. The extra inch provides relief from an issue Mikey has. The length of these hooks extends past the palm and out the other side of the hand; therefore, the back of the handle doesn't jab or rest at the palm to create friction, which can lead to sores or irritation of the hook hitting the palm of the hand.

The moulded tips are a plus for Mikey as it's challenging to separate plies of yarn. In all of the years of using these, Mikey has only broken one, which is superb.

We don't use affiliate linkages here for Amazon, but if you look up ergonomic hooks on Amazon, you will most likely see these listed. They are pretty cheap compared to other ergonomic hooks out there, and he orders several kits simultaneously. If you lose a hook, a sin unto itself, it's not a lot of dollars lost between a sofa cushion, etc.

I have 3 sets of these. They're the best hooks I've used.... however, I bought a tool to etch the hook size into them, as the printing wore off.

I just got these hooks I ordered them around Christmas and I love them much lighter and easier to use. I wish they done these in a K and a J hook.

I've used these books for several years. Hobby Lobby hooks and they are great.
