Cruise #1 - 4 Nights February 18 to 22nd, 2027 departing and returning to Miami, Florida. A quick and exciting run for those who cannot get away for too long but want to get into the fun mix of being on board with a bunch of excited crochet cruisers.

Cruise #2 - 10 Nights February 22nd to March 4th, 2027 departing from Miami and returning to Miami, Florida. The long route takes our time but extends the fun.

As long as there is space, you can opt to do both cruises and stay on board with us during the turnaround of Cruise #1.

Rock Star Suites are available upon request only, but subject to inventory on board that isn't already booked.

    Pre-Cruise Hotel

We will have a pre-cruise hotel arranged for guests who need a room a day or two before departure. This is not worked into the price, as some guests prefer to drive to the cruise terminal. Joanne will have a booking open for this when ready to get one of the rooms we have.

    • Breakfast at the hotel will be included with your stay.
    • The guests staying at the pre-cruise hotel will be transferred to the cruise terminal on the day of departure.

    Michael & Daniel's Inspection Report

Michael and Daniel did an inspection of Virgin Voyages in January 2026. With some assumptions about Virgin in advance, but also open-minded enough to get the lay of the land, ship operations and more.

Virgin Voyages has its own way of doing things that separates it from other cruise lines, as you will read in Michael's report.

    Cruiser Feedback

Over the years, there have been two requests:

    • The first cruise will be a short weekender-type cruise. You cannot be away for long, but you would like to experience part of a crochet cruise.
    • A shorter cruise will turn into an extended cruise on the turnaround. It is not uncommon for our group to stay on board for a third run, usually after both cruises are complete. Talk to our agent if that interests you. There is no crochet program, but you may want to book an additional cruise to relax.
    • Time to play and experience other ship activities.

We are moving forward with a fresh concept.

    A New Outlook Ahead

Our 20th crochet cruise in the Mediterranean is on a smaller vessel of Royal Caribbean. As a group, I prefer smaller ships and less crowded cities, but that could change in the future. It's opened a doorway to explore other cruise lines and their itineraries, as we have been loyal to Celebrity Cruise Lines (primarily) since 2016. We have been on Carnival and Princess in the past. We are exploring options to refresh our program and offer a broader range of experiences.

Our biggest obstacle is securing materials, getting them to the ship and working with the vessel as a creative group. Not all ships work, and newer ships today are bypassing conference spaces. The reason is simple: unused space on a cruise ship is wasted. Not every cruise has a group or needs the space. It requires us to be creative in using a closed restaurant or other gathering space when the ship is not already using it.

    Working with The Ship

For these two cruises, we are adjusting our programming to better align with the ship's operations. Use what the vessel is already doing and integrate our program into it.

NEW - You will not be assigned a dining room to eat with the mega party. Instead, you will have a free choice of most of the restaurants on board the vessel. This allows people to meet new friends and have dinner together if they choose. Restaurants on board offer a variety of food styles. You decide.

NEW - We will not have assigned spaces in the evenings on the ship, as the entire ship goes into entertainment mode. However, this means you can grab a lounge or something with your new friends, whip out your crochet, go to a show or party, and kick your cruise into gear by enjoying your vacation however you want.

NEW - Basic beverages, such as soda, water, drip coffee, juice, and tea, are included. Virgin Cruise Lines doesn't offer alcohol-based beverage programs that are all-inclusive like other ships. You will find the alcohol is cheaper than on other cruise lines, and you are not charged extra for drinks you may not consume.

They have a Bar Tab Program where you can place money ahead of time for your alcoholic beverages, and if you hit the minimums, they offer deals. You cannot purchase a Bar Tab once on board, and drinks will be charged to your room. For our Sea Terrance Sailors (aka Balcony), your cabin will receive an automatic $50 bar tab, split among the guests on board.

NEW - We opted for a ship that has solo cabins (available only if inventory is not already booked). This means that, as long as availability is available, you will not incur a single supplement fee for taking a cabin designed for two people.

KNOWN - Most of our group is taking balcony cabins, but we have interior cabins reserved for our party for those who want a cheaper option.

Continuing: Non-crocheters will receive a discount, as they won't need course materials or use the workshop space when crocheters are present. This means family and friends can travel. They will get lanyards, name badges and shirts to be part of our group.

    Budget-Minded

We do not include airfare, parking or pre-cruise hotel with our events, as not everyone needs these options. However, our agent can arrange all of this for you from your home airport to the cruise terminal and back.

Once we get closer to the cruise, you can buy a corporate-discounted hotel room before and after the cruise at your own expense.

Many cruisers drive in, and others may just be dropped off at the cruise terminal. There's no point in upcharging guests to cover unnecessary expenses.

This is an event production hosted by us, The Crochet Crowd, and we have expenses to cover for the use of private spaces, entertainment, and more.
