Crochet and Knit Knockers - Knitted Knockers for Breast Cancer Survivors

Knitted Knockers is a global initiative to provide breast prosthetics. The vision is to enable people to have the willpower to go out and make these things for community members in their local community. Available at the same website for knitters and crocheters to significantly impact people you will never meet.

Unlike regular prosthetics, the yarn version is light and soft. Considering that healing takes weeks, it is a great alternative for women.

Currently, there are 6,434 knitted knocker dedicated groups. They have provided 892,000 of these, and it is a volunteer initiative.

There are patterns to follow, tutorials, and website updates on which sizes or colours are most demanded. There is a current list of approved yarns for this, one of which is Patons Grace yarns, one of my favourites.

There are also Knitted Knockers of Canada. Just Google to see if there is an outreach in your country.

A crocheter stepped forward a few weeks ago and asked us if we could consider one of our future events to do some homework: bring one knitted knocker for the attendees to donate as a group.

Jimmy Beans Wool and we, The Crochet Crowd, think this is a great idea. It's difficult to find anyone who hasn't been touched by breast cancer in some way.

I'm a huge advocate for trying to be the change I want to see in the world. These are free to those who need them. Apply to be put on the list.
