In discussing this campaign with officials at Lion Brand, the achievement is no small accomplishment. This isn’t one of those split moment ideas that suddenly materialized before their eyes. The obstacles, negotiations and more to deal with war ravaged Uganda was no small undertaking. Lion Brand decided to give a yarn donation in 2009 as the idea presentation was incredible and they wanted to help empower these three young men.
With the idea of 3 young men, today they have lifted 400 people out of poverty by employing 120 women in Uganda. These woman can provide for their entire families and giving opportunities that would not have existed without this initiative. Articles that have been made can be found in Nordstrom, Whole Foods and Urban Outfitters in the USA. By purchasing one of their finished items in stores, you are supporting employment and providing opportunities in Uganda.
