I remember seeing Caron Simply Soft Party for the first time when Caron Yarns just joined on with Yarnspirations back many moons ago. For me, I'm attracted to glitter, sparkles and things that stand out. I bee-lined over just to feel it.
Usually, when something glitters, it looks fabulous but it feels like hell on the hands. You don't really realize that until it scraps across the top of your hand as you crochet. So I was prepared for that when I touched it.
The ball was soft and gushy. I did the skin check again my check to see what it feels like. There was like virtually no scratch! Had I died and gone to yarn heaven? Quite possibility so. This yarn is a testament of technology and ideas getting better by the yarn company. Raw materials are evolving and instead of using scratchy shiny filaments for the sparkle, the filament is soft with the same benefits of the sparkle.
If you remember that my friends, Kevin, Karen, Daniel and I crocheted the 12-foot tall crochet nutcrackers. The entire yarn project was done in Caron Simply Soft. Most of it was Caron Simply Soft Party. The nutcracker had the sparkle without being over the top and it was a breeze to crochet because of the new technology applied to this yarn. It's fabulous! See closer up Shots of our Nutcrackers.
I've also used this yarn in a tutorial too. Check out this free one doing a Crochet Jewelled Snowflake.
