Crochet Dog Coat

Learn how to crochet this amazing Crochet Dog Coat for 4 sizes of dogs. Using everyday yarn like Bernat Super Value, you can create a simple dog coat to give your dog some added style.

The coat comes in the pattern for 4 sizes. Sized small to extra large. I had Jeanne research the dog sizes and this is what it comes up as:

  • Small - Chihuahua or Yorkie Size
  • Medium - Pug or Terrier Size
  • Large - Beagle or Collie Size
  • X-Large - Greyhound or Labrador Size

In the tutorial, I show you how to attack this pattern in reading the pattern but also show you some great tips too. I substituted using Bernat Maker Fashion. I used 1 ball of each colour for the small size. You will need more yarn to do other sizes. The yarn requirements are in the pattern for the Bernat Super Value.

Without striping like the pattern asks for, you can make it fairly quickly without a whole like of loose ends. Of course, if you want extra styling, take the time to do so.

Hi! I am trying desperately to make a round tablecloth, nothing fancy mind you. I tried using your tutorial on crocheting in the round by increasing. The larger it got the more waves it became ( I was on about row 12 when the wave started). My second attempt was a round granny square that got super wavy around row seven. I'm getting pretty frustrated. Help!! I love your tutorials, you are so easy to follow.

Usually, when it gets wavy, that means you're increasing too much.

      I used this: https://www.craftsy.com/blog/2015/10/crochet-a-flat-circle/

tutorial to kind of get me on the right track. I found the Crochet Crowd a few months after so I never looked at their crocheting in the round tutorial. But following that link got me flat circles.

    Mikey,
i need your help on this pattern. I would love to make this for my Labra-dane, yes, she's half lab, half great dane, and she loves her cuddly clothes since she's rather short haired. But her chest is more like 36" and have tried with one of these pattern before, but they were still too small. Any idea how to make this one big enough for my little one?
    thanks
    Paula

Paula, I think it will be easier for you to tackle this if you get the measurements of the dog first. I am making one for a dog that is in between the small and medium sizes right now. When I work with Mikey's tutorial I measure each piece and compare it to the measurements I have of the dog. This way I know when to increase or decrease the stitches to make it fit better. Here's a link to a diagram of what measurements you should have:
