It is the best of two worlds for a thread coaster and a 1:12 dollhouse-size round area rug. This is a 5" coaster or miniature area mat, whichever you prefer. This is the Crochet Thread Coaster or Miniature Crochet Rug.
Based on the 1:12 dollhouse size miniatures, this area rug is the equivalent of 60" for home furnishing decor but is only 5" in real-life.
Materials
Aunt Lydia’s Fashion Thread (137 m/150 yds) - 1 ball Scarlett. One ball makes four coasters.
- Use 2.5 mm, U.S. C
- Gauge = 12 sc and 12 rows = 2”
- Measurements Approx 5” diameter.

NOTES:
1st rnd: Ch 5 (counts as 1 dc and ch-1 sp.) 5th ch from the hook is the centre of the coaster. (1 dc in centre ch, ch 1.) 11 times. Join with sl st to 4th chain of beg ch. 12 dc and 12 ch-1 sps.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. 1 scfp around dc below, 2 sc in next ch-1 sp. *1 scfp around next dc, 2 sc in next ch-1 sp. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to beg scfp. 24 sc and 12 scfp.
3rd rnd: Ch 2 (doesn’t count as st). 3 dc in beg st. *Sk next 2 sc, 3 dc in next scfp st. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to beg dc. 36 dc.

4th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in beg st. 1 sc in next 2 dc. 1 sc in sp bet the next 2 dc posts. *1 sc in next 3 dc. 1 sc in sp bet the next 2 dc posts. Rep from * around. 48 sc.
5th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in be st. 1 dcfp around middle dc 2 rows below. 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1, sk next sc. *1 sc in next sc. 1 dcfp around middle dc 2 rows below. 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1, sk next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to beg sc. 48 sts.
6th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each st and ch-1 sp around. Join with sl st to beg sc. 48 sc.
TIP: Next round, see the crochet diagram to show you where the treble 2 together legs will go.
Tr2tog - Uses the skipped single crochets in round 4 below. A space you left on round 5 helps to see those stitches. Use one leg of the treble to reach before the single crochet stitch you are creating, and the other leg uses the next single crochet stitch after.
7th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in beg sc. *Tr2tog. 1 sc in next 3 sc. Rep from * around until 3 sts rem. Tr2og. 1 sc in last 2 sc. Join with sl st to be beg sc. 48 sts.
8th rnd: Ch 2 (doesn’t count as st), 1 dc in same beg sc. *2 dc in next tr2tog st, 1 dc in next 3 sc. Rep from * around until 2 sts rem. 2 dc in next tr2tog st, 1 dc in next sc. Join with sl st to beg dc. 60 sts.
9th rnd: Sl st 1 st back. Ch 1. 1 sc in same st. *Sk 2 dc and use sp to place a shell between before the next dc. Sk 2 dc, 1 sc in next st. Rep from * around until 4 sts rem. Sk 2 dc and use sp to place a shell between before the next dc. Sk 2 dc. Join with sl st to beg sc. Fasten off.
