Jimmy Beans & The Crochet Crowd will work together for another retreat in 2024. Location in Nevada close to Jimmy Beans Wool.
Our first Annual Retreat was in 2023, with Jimmy Beans Wool as our coordinator and host for an incredible event in Incline Village, Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
With twenty years of experience and personnel in Reno, Nevada, Jimmy Beans Wool easily coordinated resources such as yarn, implements, and negotiating power with event spaces from their existing locations.
One of the most substantial impacts on the events is the location and how we get our products to the location. We cannot just host this event anywhere as the location impacts the cost of the production.
With Jimmy Beans Wool within a short distance, items can be taken to the host resort/hotel through personal vehicles instead of using trucking services and storage fees like we used to with Crochet Cruises. Trucking and storage ramp up the cost of the events.
Jimmy Beans also opened up its warehouse for the crocheters to walk through and shop directly out of the boxes. The entire retreat was bussed into Jimmy Beans as a field trip.
Crocheters who were not local were given the option to ship their items home. Each person had a box and could put things in a box and then leave at the end of the shopping spree. Jimmy Beans staff would then go through the boxes, charge items, handle the packaging, and ship it to the retreater's home to avoid the airline baggage fees.
In this particular retreat, we had different ages of crocheters from their late 20s and up. With one hundred participants max, we had 95 after some cancellations leading up to the event.
Each guest was given an activity package that matched the classes. Retreaters each received store credit to do a shopping spree. They also received a standing crochet case and a big bag of yarn. It was so big that everyone was offered to have it shipped home instead of taking it with them. This extra shouldn't be expected in future events as everything is tied to budgeting on what we can afford to do.
With nearly one hundred guests, the group was divided into friends traveling with each other to stay in the same group. Groups one through five were created. This meant that each class had 20 people or less: more attention and a relaxed atmosphere.
We were next to the Tunisian class with Anita.
Each Event Will Be Different
While this is a Crochet Crowd Event, I have to select the teachers to host the event. There needs to be four plus myself to have an equal balance of the rotation of the workshops.
The next event, with dates unknown, will not be on Lake Tahoe for 2024. The location we selected this year is undergoing renovation.
Create an Online Account
To rush the online tickets when they open, you need to have an established account with Jimmy Beans Wool so you can fast rush the purchase during the ticket sales. Tickets for 2023 sold out in just 3 minutes. People were ready and were given an exact date and time when the tickets went live.
Sign Up for Jimmy Beans Account here.
You will not have time to open and account and buy tickets for our event at the same time. You need to be logged in and ready.
We are not doing an advanced list. Watch for social media notifications on Facebook and/or our events page. There will be several days, if not a couple weeks before the tickets are released.

Stay Tuned
We are working on 2024 now. Once everything is set up contract-wise, we will begin to sell tickets. It may be as early as later this fall.

Would love a day pass option! I live locally and have some disabilities which require very specific and challenging meal requirements. It would be nice if the event could offer different types of tickets to be more inclusive.

They offered that this time around. People who didn't stay went home and didn't required to pay for the nights accommodations at the event. The catering can accommodate special diets that are challenging as well.

I'm glad it won't be at Lake Tahoe next year and I hope I'm able to get a ticket! I would appreciate being able to bring someone with me who is not a crocheter/participant, like my husband or sister. It seemed like arrangements like that for the 2023 retreat were hard to get. Thank you.

They were available to bring a spouse. We had spouses and friends at the retreat that didn't crochet that didn't pay for the classroom. There was a meal package for the friends and family that opted to have the benefits of the full catering as well. They were available for 2023.

I thought I could be satisfied with the one for my bucket list. Now I have to figure out how to convince my hubby that I NEED to do this next year too! As you say, first world problems.
