I was just told where the location is for our Mystery Crochet Retreat, which will be held from May 17 to May 23, 2025. It's at The Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia, USA.
I've never heard of this place, but don't be surprised. I don't follow the history of the USA, but I am intrigued by it now that I know it. Once I heard West Virginia, I recalled one of the first road trips with my parents when I was 5 years old to see Washington, DC. When they got married, my parents went to Washington for their honeymoon. They wanted to revisit Washington five years later with two kids in hand to show us. It's the only time I have been to Washington. Along the road trip, we passed through West Virginia, and I was captivated by the mountains. Just around the corner, and we will be there, a million corners later, we arrived in Washington. I have been through West Virginia several times as a trucker but never as a tourist to stay and learn more.
Located in the Allegheny Mountains, this USA National Landmark served as an emergency shelter for the US Congress during the Cold War.
It's also a filming location for movies such as Hallmark. Celebrities, royalty and more have graced the halls of The Greenbrier resort.

Arrival Interinary
All crocheters with our party for this adventure will stay at The Holiday Inn in Charleston, West Virginia, on May 17th. There will be a crochet stitch-out meet-up in the evening. This is a closed party, meaning for crochet retreat guests only. If you don't wish to go to the Holiday Inn and be part of our inbound group, talk to our agent, Sherry, and you will head directly to The Greenbrier for afternoon Check-in on the 18th.
Many of our guests are flying in, but some have opted to drive. Driving people go to the Holiday Inn to meet the party, skip the crochet coach bus to the resort, and park at The Greenbrier. At the end of the retreat, they head off in their own vehicles, and the others coach them back to the airport for departure.
Group Meals & Spending Money
Each guest will get a pre-loaded resort card. You can use this card to purchase breakfast and lunch, snacks, beverages, and gift shops. Once the money is gone, it's gone. Any extra charges you make will be charged to your credit card. The card has enough money to ensure you eat properly throughout the day if you are not spending it on other things.
Evening meals are private dinners with only our party. Though the resort has an evening dress code etiquette for the main dining, we are not in those restaurants to follow the dress code. Come and be comfortable. No judgement. This is a fully catered meal; two alcoholic drinks per person are included each evening. Sherry will have drink tickets for you to redeem.
Group Activities
There was no added activity fee for this crochet retreat as it's a bring-your-own yarn event. Work on the projects you want to work on. There is going to be downtime to be able to do plenty of hook-outs.
In addition to the crochet element, our group will participate in mini-groups and resort activities together. Have you ever tried glass-blowing or miniature-making? Yes, those are included, too.
The resort offers various activities for nominal fees, including horseback riding, bowling, bike rentals, carriage rides, bunker tours, and more.
