Our friends at Yarnspirations have launched Bernat Yarn as a social media outlet on both Facebook and Instagram.
Back Story Time
I have been working on and off with Spinrite Yarns since 2010 in starting at their retail store in hosting workshops. At the time, Spinrite had only Bernat, Patons (North America), Phentex, Lily Sugar'n Cream. They are also the makers of some of the private label yarns you see out there.
At the time, social media is still just a thought and then eventually they would create websites for the different brands and social media accounts for the different brands. At the time, they had only 2 people that were trying to keep this all sorted out.
As social media picked up, it was too hard with the small team they had to maintain everything as a separate entity. Caron Yarns out of the USA is put up for sale and acquired by Spinrite. So now there is are 4 major brands. Bernat, Caron, Lily Sugar'n Cream and Patons. Each has its own specialty.
Online shopping gets introduced and with that, the name Yarnspirations is developed to bring the brands together under one main umbrella. So everything gets moved to Yarnspirations and existing websites of Bernat, Patons (North America) and Lily Sugar'n Cream are axed.

The Two Worlds of Yarnspirations
Yarnspirations has been through 2 updates since its creation. You will recognize the original logo versus today. The lightbulb of creativity was logo number 1 and the website has a yellow and blue and light gray flair to it.
However, it was changed and there's more to it than you realize. The change was a result of making the background of the website and marketing easier to read. The logo was changed to a Spark Plug which can resemble the twisted braid of yarn. In Canada, we have compliance laws for the visually impaired. So the writing and colouring on a website have to be so clear that having multiple colours in a website and overlays of graphics over photographs is not permitted.
This change, The Crochet Crowd, being Canadian is why our website is so basic and why I don't put writing over top of photographs. We are following Canadian Law. It's why when you visit Yarnspirations and you see the sales ads on the top of the site they are not on top of a photograph. It's difficult to read if you are visually impaired. It's also why we do not write graphics over the top of photographs on the thumbnails of YouTube Videos. We are keeping in compliance. The graphics have to be on a clear background or just not be used. We opt to not use the graphics and keep it inspirational based on the photo. Not sensationalized with busy graphics or spammy-looking thumbnails. You are allowed to put your logo onto a photograph or use watermarks to protect your artwork.
With the change, they came to a standard on how the videos are made for their network and the jingle that is used. Most of you have probably heard the jingle.
Yarnspirations, the name itself, has been mispronounced by the public for years but as time has gone on. People have realized how to say it right. Yarns-SPUR-EH-shuns.
By 2018, Coats and Clark, makers of Red Heart Yarn get put up for sale and acquired by Spinrite Yarns. So now there is Bernat, Red Heart, Caron, Lily Sugar'n Cream and Patons (North America).
Red Heart Yarns has been an American favourite yarn, here in Canada, access to this yarn is limited as we don't have the yarn stores and choices as the Americans have. Here in Canada, Bernat Yarn has been a staple choice and is a brand I have grown up with. Of the 5 brands, Bernat Yarn, due to nostalgia and also trust in the brand is the brand I will select the most. Bernat Yarn generally uses is a higher grade of acrylic and is softer than Red Heart Super Saver. So I have been a Bernat Super Value user as a result of choice of the feeling though it's generally more money. I find the softness is worth the investment.
Instead of Red Heart Social Media being terminated and moved under the Yarnspirations main social outlet, they kept their own social setting with Red Heart Facebook and Instagram. While everything falls under the Yarnspirations main umbrella, Red Heart has its own place and pattern choices.
Back to the Present
Spinrite Yarns has decided to revive Bernat Yarn as a separate social setting for all things Bernat Yarn. Such as inspiration, free patterns and also for people to tag in their social media postings.

The Crochet Crowd is where I learned to crochet. Literally. I did my first Mystery Crochet a few years back. It wasn't perfect, but it was fun and I learned a whole lot. I kept doing the CAL's learning as I go. I love the fact that Mikey uses the printed pattern with words, the graphs to show stitch placement, and if all else fails watch the videos. I am a left-handed crocheter; however, I have a right-handed brain. I adapt. One method or the other works. Thank You! My enjoyment of this craft is because of you, Mikey. Thank You!

Love The Study of Possibilities Throw. Have been watching the Blogs since it was first revealed. I have tried many of your Crochet Alongs and other patterns but wasn't sure if this was something I could tackle. I loved the pictures with the original colors you choose and some that the testers used for their throws. I will probably attempt this throw but want to make sure that I chose the right combination of colors. Great design.
