Well, time is short, and you need a crochet baby blanket, give this one a try.  The Bernat Blanket Stripes yarn makes this project even easier as you don't have to stop and change colours, yet it produces a fabulous blanket.  Of course, if you prefer to choose your own colors, there are many shades of regular Bernat Blanket yarn that will work well.

I used just 2 balls and 3 hours one evening to crochet this quick and easy blanket.  Its finished size is 29" x 34", just enough to cover a baby or be a comfy mat for a baby to lay on.  It's plush and soft, perfect for a baby's soft skin.

In round 2, is it (sc, ch2, sc) in ch-2 sp, or
(sc, ch1, sc) in ch-2 sp?
The video tutorial says ...ch1..., the written pattern says ...ch2...

or maybe I am reading/hearing wrong?

Evening K. it's probably me stating the wrong chain count. I will put a note on the tutorial.

Hi I am making this now. Thank you for the video it made it much easier to understand, but although I am getting a rectangle and it seems to be working out I only used the slip stitch for the 1st turn (& second turn?). I don't understand how, where or why to use the slip stitch at the corner. Does it make that much difference? Thank you

The slip stitching to the corner allows you to reset. However, if you don't want to, you can start where you left off but it will make your slip stitch line go into the middle of the blanket. It may not be too noticeable. It's why Jeanne did the slip stitching to the corner so it's no so obvious. It's really up to you.

The Gigi block party would work. its a combo the Hugs & Kisses Blanket and the Modern Granny I'm sure you can use the moden granny from this which makes a square.
