Designers are encouraged, and it is much easier for crocheters to access the abbreviations at the beginning of the pattern.

Abbreviations should be placed alphabetically so the crocheter can access this like a dictionary to quickly find the instruction. More complex abbreviations that go beyond the basic standard should have instructions on how to do the stitch itself.
