Deeper Reasons to Love Yarn?
So now that we’ve established that you’re definitely addicted to yarn, it’s time to dig into the underlying reason why you simply can’t get enough fiber…..
Of course you could say it’s all about your health, that crafting clears your mind, or that you simply like to make things for other people. I would venture to say, though, that there’s a deeper meaning to your adoration for the fiber arts. There’s something more that drives you to pick up your hooks and needles to get stitching.
In a world where friendships and small talk can sometimes be hard to find, you’ve finally found your community. You’ve found the people who accept your shortcomings right alongside your strengths. Nobody in this community judges you for putting the dishes second, and a little “you” (and maybe “yarn”) time first. You’ve found an international connection….no matter where you go, there will always be a friendly face waiting to greet you at the local yarn store. You’re part of something bigger….part of one of the friendliest, most caring communities around.
Who wouldn’t be a fiber addict if everyone knew what you do? It’s impossible to go back once you realize you’ve just joined such an amazing group of people.
So ever wonder what makes fiber lovers so awesome? Could it be our caring nature (nearly every fiber lover you’ll ever meet has at one point or another selflessly made something for another person)? Could it be the attentiveness (counting stitches and applying fine details while making our art can help teach a lot of life lessons)? Or maybe it’s just that we all love fiber…..and we do it together.
Whatever the reason, this community is built on a foundation of wonderful people. Beautiful, quirky, textured, and intricate people….just like yarn. Each of us has our own unique strengths and weaknesses. Just like lace weight yarn makes gorgeous shawls while it isn’t right for a winter hat, some of us are deeply caring and more sensitive. We don’t always stand up well to the elements of life. Or just as Handspun yarn has lots of bumps and sizes, some of us have more going on than is immediately visible on the outside.
Everyone in this community knows though, that no matter what the texture, size, or materials, yarn is yarn. This lesson has helped teach us that no matter what the personality, background, strenghts, or weaknesses, people are people.
We all just happen to be people who love yarn <3
