A pop of colour in amongst the leafless trees and potentially snow on the ground is the warm set of a scarf and hat in crochet texture format.
I'm a fan of texture, especially for winter gear, as it adds layers of warmth and visual appeal. I used Bernat Symphony yarn for each. The hat will use just over half a ball, and the scarf will use one full ball.
Bernat Symphony Scarf
The scarf is originally a daisy farm crafts pattern for Yarnspirations, but I had to modify it slightly to ensure I didn't run out of yarn. I didn't want to crack a second ball of yarn to finish the final row. I changed the final row.
The final row is a single crochet row instead. As you can see in the model sample, it looks great and doesn't look out of place.
This the same scarf done with Bernat Symphony in the colour called Pebbles.

Tutorial
Bernat Symphony Step Hat
The original stepping texture hat has been redesigned to accommodate a thinner yarn with Bernat Symphony yarn. It is a tightly textured crochet hat that is easy to follow. Two versions are in the same pattern, including a beanie and a toque (longer version). This is the Easy Crochet Step Hat pattern.
This hat is based on a Stepping Texture Hat with revisions for thinner yarn and sizing options.
The toque version repeats the section rows 2 to 6 twice while the smaller beanie version is just once.
Materials
Bernat Symphony Yarn, 225 g/7.9 oz, 282 m/309 yds
- Version 1 is Beanie Format for Average Adult in the colour called Royal.
- Version 2 is the toque version in Pomegranate Punch for average adult.
You will have enough yarn to do a generous size pom pom if desired.
