The Crochet Into The Light Afghan by Jeanne Steinhilber was a much-needed stitching journey filled with light-bouncing textures.

Background Story:
The couple here from Nova Scotia is extremely fun. The husband here never had long hair, but Covid was hit with lockdowns. He made a pact that he would not cut his hair until the lockdowns were lifted. Lockdowns happened, I think, twice, maybe three times and masking restrictions lasted 18 months. He cut his hair after the masking limitation was lifted. He's cute either way.
My book was written and produced during Covid coming into being and this book was released before Covid restrictions were lifted.
Jeanne found herself trying to cope with emotions during this unprompted crochet design. It was never intended for the book, but when she showed us behind the scenes, we were gob-smacked by its intentional shadows.

As Jeanne designed and hooked herself through this afghan, a lot of time of thinking was placed into this blanket. It's a blanket she cherishes. This blanket was sent back to Jeanne to gift to a friend who helped her claw her way out of the dark and into the light.

I am currently working on this one in a solid color. I am using Caron One Pound in Azure. I love all the texture and it really shows up in the solid color. I think it is going to be beautiful! Thank you so much for everything you all do!

Mike, loving the grey/yellow controlled color changes you posted this week. If using alternate yarn than Caron One Pound are the amounts needed roughly the equivalent of a full skein or do some colors use noticeably less quantity for the complete pattern for planning purposes?
Mikey says
I don't know what the breakdown per yard is each colour. I will defer to Jeanne to see if she can help you here.

Darn, I was really hoping no one would ask me that question. I don't have the exact answer. The weight of my finished blanket is about 4 pounds. I started this one over a year ago and set it aside for a time. I wasn't even sure if I was going to finish it. While it sat in the WIP basket, I used some of the yarn on other projects, so even if I weigh them at this point, I'm afraid I would not be accurate. In fact, I have to buy another ball as I completely used up one on another project. I'm truly sorry I cannot give you a better answer, but I don't want to make guesses either.

No worries, a little extra stash yarn is never a bad idea! Appreciate you putting such a gorgeous pattern in the book and posting the remix on colors here.
