The Crochet Super Star Baby Blanket is one of the first patterns Mikey wrote after deciding to crochet full-time. It was one of his first blankets that went beyond granny squares.
Crochet a unique baby blanket in the shape of a star. Star blankets make great gifts at the baby shower and are easily foldable around a baby.

by Mikey, © 2009 The Crochet Crowd. This is one of the very first patterns Mikey wrote. Pattern updated to today's terms in 2024.
The white colour goes in every 4th round. The video tutorial shows you where to stick the hook after the point. New crocheters tend to miss the first stitch, causing the points to bend off to the side.

I made this blanket few years ago. I entered it into the Fair and it won a First Prize Ribbon. I was using the pattern and planned it would go to a Veteran for whom we were making lap blankets. When I sent it, I sent a letter along with it and the blue ribbon too. (What in the world will my family do with them when I am gone?) A letter came back from the Veteran to our group. He was so very pleased with it that he was having it framed. Can you guess he was from TX? He loved the star and we loved hearing from him.

Awesome. Thank you.

I love this pattern and it comes together quickly.
What is the finished size or recommended size for a baby blanket? I'm using the updated Caron one pound and a size 5.5 hook.

Here is Mikey’s article on blanket sizes to give you an idea.
For myself, for babies I usually try for 36”, so the young one can use it through toddler years.
