    Crochet Suspension Stitch Cowl
    Crochet Suspension Stitch Cowl

Mikey designs the Crochet Suspension Stitch Cowl. Easy stitch repeating once the setup is complete. I used 80% of 1 O'Go with Caron Colorama that was available at JOANN in 2021. I had some yarn left over and decided to play with it.

The stitch multiple is in sets of 3 if you want to adjust with changing the yarn or hook size. You can make it in any diameter you wish.

    Yarn and Details

    • Caron® Colorama™ (180 g/6.4 oz, 208 meters/228 yards)
    • Just 1 O’go - I used 80% of it.
    • Colorway: Lippy
    • Cowl is 14” dia x 7” wide.
    • Hook: 6 mm / J/10.
    • GAUGE: 10 sc and  11 rows = 4” [10 cm]

    Abbreviations

    • Ch = Chain
    • Dc = Double crochet
    • Rep = Repeat
    • RS = Right side
    • Sc = Single crochet
    • Sk = Skip
    • Sp = Space
    • Sl st = Slip stitch
    • St(s) = Stitch(es)
    • Trfp = Treble Front Post

    Instructions

    Multiples

If you love this concept, the stitch multiple is in sets of 3. To customize the diameter, you can use any yarn and hook that matches the yarn.

Ch 90, join with do not twist chain and sl st to beg ch to form ring.

1st rnd: (RS). Ch 1, 1 sc in each chain around. Join with sl st to beg sc.

2nd rnd: Sl st next 2 sts, ch 4 (counts as 1 dc and ch 1 sp), dc in first st with the join cross in front of the project. *Sk next 2 sts, 1 dc in next st. Ch 1. 1 dc in first skipped st in front of the first dc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 4.

3rd rnd: Sl st to next ch 1 sp. Ch 1, 3 sc in same ch 1 sp. *3 sc in each ch 1 sp around. Join with sl st to beg sc.

Beg Suspension St - Sl st next 2 sts, ch 4 (counts as 1 dc and ch 1 sp), 1 dc around front post of either a dc or trfp that is in the front directly below.

Suspension St - Sk next 2 sts, dc in next, ch 1, 1 trfp around trfp or dc directly below.

4th rnd: Beg suspension st. *suspension st around. Join with a sl st to ch 3 of the beg ch 4.

5th rnd: Sl st to next ch 1 sp. Ch 1, 3 sc in same ch 1 sp. *3 sc in each ch 1 sp around. Join with sl st to beg sc.

Rep 4th and 5th rows, 7 more times. Fasten off and weave in ends.

I do like to follow your videos, but this I'd be happy with an annotated photo or two - at least a close up of what a couple of inches of what each (complex) row looks like.
