This Free Red Heart Love My Valentine Throw has 20" squares with four hearts. A crocheter requested help figuring out the final round of joining and wanted the squares to have a traditional join. Changing the joining eliminates the lace look and breaks up the flow.
I took on the challenge of crocheting this diagram to see if the crocheter could do it without changing the pattern completely. It took about thirty hours to complete. Diagrams and a mini booklet of my findings can be viewed, saved or printed.

The wonderful thing about the process is not to find any errors within the pattern. That's a relief on its own. The pattern is not re-written; additional resources are added to this article to help visualize it more.
