Advanced level crochet stitch. The stitch requires a pathway approach when going across. In the future, for specific stitches, then back… then forward again. This is the Crochet Raised Leaves Complex Stitch pattern.

This stitch may be tricky when there are a lot of distractions around you, but the effects of using Bernat Symphony Yarn would be amazing.

This stitch is not for the weak. If you are successful, I would love to know in the article's comments below. You can even post a picture with your update.

The pathway is complex, but there is a repetition that you can see after a few tries, and it will be much easier. The blue sample in the tutorial is my first attempt. I did it against Patons Inspire with Charcoal Blanket, which I frogged, and my third attempt was the Patons Inspire in Sea Foam that is crocheted on screen with you.

Yarn

Bernat Symphony Yarn, 225 g/7.9 oz, 282 m/309 yds

  • Colour shown is called Sea Spray.

Hook: 6 mm / J/10

Gauge: 11 sc and 12 rows = 4” [10 cm]

Size: Each repeat of 12 chains = 3.5” x 3.25” high for a full repeat.

Abbreviations

  • Beg = Begin(ning)
  • Ch(s) = Chain(s)
  • Dc = Double crochet
  • Hdc = Half Double Crochet
  • Rep = Repeat
  • RS = Right Side
  • Sc = Single crochet
  • Sk = Skip
  • Sl st(s) = Slip Stitch(es)
  • St(s) = Stitch(es)

Instructions

Notes:

  • Stitch multiple is 12 chains + 1.
  • The first 6 sl sts are on the right side of the work for orientation.
  • Use back loops only for the entire pattern.
  • Be sure back loop stitches for the slip stitches are not too tight.

This was fun! I had to do it late at night when no one was around, but didn't have any problems. I decided to make my sample into a scarf, it's still a work in progress, but I can now do it with even when the grand kids are here. Thank you for the pattern! (you might want to check the stitch count on 2-E and 4-J.)

YEs, repeat passes 1, 2, 3 and 4 until you are happy with the length. Then complete the final row.
