Free Bernat Easy Crochet Step Hats in Toque or Beanie Format Pattern + Tutorial

The original stepping texture hat has been redesigned to accommodate a thinner yarn with Bernat Symphony yarn. It is a tightly textured crochet hat that is easy to follow. Two versions are in the same pattern, including a beanie and a toque (longer version). This is the Easy Crochet Step Hat pattern.

The pattern is easy to repeat, and the yarn is changing colour on its own. It uses one of my favourite brims of all time slip stitching, and with the thickness of the yarn, the brim creation goes much faster than regular 4-ply worsted yarn.

This hat is based on a Stepping Texture Hat with revisions for thinner yarn and sizing options.

The toque version repeats the section rows 2 to 6 twice while the smaller beanie version is just once.
