Turn on the TV and get hooking up a storm to make this Top-down Crochet Shawl Pattern. It was originally designed with Red Heart Unforgettable yarn, but I wondered what it would look like with Red Heart Comfort yarn in a solid colour.
I followed the pattern as written and decided the length I was most comfortable with. Having filmed this design over 10 years ago, I thought a revisit with today's yarn would be great.
Materials Change
- Use Red Heart Comfort yarn. You will need about half a ball. The colour shown is Hot Pink.
- Use 5 mm / H/8 crochet hook.
- Gauge: 14 sc and 15 rows = 4” [10 cm].
A fashion shawl is generally about 16" straight down from the neck. A comfort shawl is about 16" to 30" down from the neck. You can stop at any point.
The border can be applied anytime as long as you finish with the spacing ch-1 spaces as a last row. Known as Row 5, as shown in the pattern. I applied Row 7 to show you what the sequence continues to look like.
