Crochet Tweed Stitch Shawl Pattern + Tutorial

This combination is a 4-row repeat. The yarn is not cut between rows and is carried up the side.

This matches the pattern called Crochet Tweed Shawl that was released in January 2020 by Yarnspirations.

Instructions

The stitch multiple is 2 + 1

Using any size hook and yarn that is recommended on the ball band. The demonstration is using 6 mm / J Hook with Patons Lincoln Fog.

Abbreviations

  • Beg = Beginning
  • Ch = Chain
  • Cont = Continue
  • Dc = Double Crochet
  • Pat = Pattern
  • Rem = Remaining
  • Rep = Repeat
  • RS = Right Side
  • Shell = 5 dc into same st.
  • Sk = Skip
  • Sp = Space
  • WS = Wrong Side

Chain in multiples of 2. Add 1 chain at the end of the chain for balance.

  • To change color, work to last 2 loops on hook and draw new color through last 2 loops, then proceed in new color.
  • Ch 3 at beg of row counts as dc.
  • The project is reversible.

1st row: (RS). With A, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. *1 dc in next ch. 1 sc in next ch. Rep from * to last ch. 1 dc in last ch. Join B. Turn. 66 sts.

2nd row: (WS). With B, ch 1. 1 sc in first dc. *1 dc in next sc. 1 sc in next dc. Rep from * to last sc. 1 dc in last sc. Do not turn.

3rd row: (WS). With A, sl st in first sc. Ch 3. *1 sc in next dc. 1 dc in next sc. Rep from * to last dc. 1 sc in last dc. Turn.

4th row: (RS). With B, sl st in first sc. Ch 3. *1 sc in next dc. 1 dc in next sc. Rep from * to last dc. 1 sc in last dc. Do not turn.

5th row: (RS). With A, sl st in first dc. Ch 1. 1 sc in first dc. *1 dc in next sc. 1 sc in next dc. Rep from * to last sc. 1 dc in last sc. Turn.

6th row: (WS). With B, sl st in first dc. Ch 1. 1 sc in first dc. *1 dc in next sc. 1 sc in next dc. Rep from * to last sc. 1 dc in last sc. Do not turn.

Rep 3rd to 6th rows until you are satisfied.
