Rainy days and caregiver days when you want to keep busy. The crochet framed rectangle blanket pattern developed by Michael Sellick may be up for something to crochet. I have included the instructions to make this a square too! This is the Tester's Delight Crochet Blanket.
Using Caron One Pound yarn, put the hook into the motion. Ten rounds complete a sequence. I have to get you started, and then the pattern repeating begins.
This pattern is currently being tested. I don't feel the stitch counts are essential as the sequence follows easily along. I provided the first two rounds to ensure you start with the right counts before the sequence begins.

Instructions
Each repeat creates a 5" band around the blanket. Blankets will increase by 10" in both the width and length for each repeating.
The pattern has been updated for simple repeating instruction. Updated November 13th, 2023 at 11:26 am AT.
Rectangle Version Start Here
With A, ch 20.
1st rnd: RS. 1 sc 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each st to 2nd last ch. (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 sc. Ch 2. 1 sc) in last ch. Turn ch to crochet on the underside of ch. 1 sc in each ch across to 2nd last ch. (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 sc. Ch 2) in last ch. Join. (19 sc x 1 sc)
2nd rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 1 dc in same sp, *1 dc in each st to corner,** (2 dc. Ch 2. 2 dc) in ch-2 sp; rep from * twice, then from * to ** once, 2 dc in beg sp. Join. (23 dc x 5 dc)
Jump to 3rd rnd from this point.
Square Version Start Here
Yarn quantity is same as rectangle.
With A, ch 4. Join with sl st to beg ch to form ring.
1st rnd: Ch 3, counts as dc, 2 dc in ring. Ch 2. [3 dc in ring, ch 2] three times. Join.
2nd rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 1 dc in same sp, *1 dc in each st to corner,** (2 dc. Ch 2. 2 dc) in ch-2 sp; rep from * twice, then from * to ** once, 2 dc in beg sp. Join. 7 dc per side.
Jump to 3rd rnd from this point
Repeating of the frame starts on rnd 3.
3rd rnd: Ch 1, 1 sc in same sp, *1 sc in each st and sp to corner,** (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 sc) in ch-2 sp; rep from * twice, then from * to ** once, 1 sc in beg sp. Join.
4th rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 1 dc in same sp, *Sk next st, ch 1. [1 dc in next st, ch 1, sk next st.] Rep [ ] to corner, ** (2 dc. Ch 2. 2 dc) in ch-2 sp; rep from * twice, then from * to ** once, 2 dc in beg sp. Join.
5th rnd: Ch 1, 1 sc in same sp, *1 sc in each st and sp to corner,** (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 sc) in ch-2 sp; rep from * twice, then from * to ** once, 1 sc in beg sp. Join.
6th rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 1 dc in same sp, *1 dc in each st to corner,** (2 dc. Ch 2. 2 dc) in ch-2 sp; rep from * twice, then from * to ** once, 2 dc in beg sp. Join.
7th rnd: Ch 1. 2 extsc in same sp. *1 dcfp around next st. [1 dcbp around next st, 1 dcfp around next st] Rep [ ] to corner, ** (2 extsc. Ch 2. 2 extsc) in ch-2 sp; rep from * twice, then from * to ** once, 2 extsc in beg sp. Join.
8th rnd: Ch 1, 1 sc in same sp, *1 sc in each st to corner,** (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 sc) in ch-2 sp; rep from * twice, then from * to ** once, 1 sc in beg sp. Join.
9th rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 1 dc in same sp, *1 dc in each st to corner,** (2 dc. Ch 2. 2 dc) in ch-2 sp; rep from * twice, then from * to ** once, 2 dc in beg sp. Join.
10th rnd: Ch 1, 1 sc in same sp, *1 sc in each st to corner,** (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 sc) in ch-2 sp; rep from * twice, then from * to ** once, 1 sc in beg sp. Join.

Frame Sequence starts fresh here. Each section is ten rounds. 3rd to 12th rounds. Start again with rnd 3 with a new colour by joining to the corner with the new colour and beginning the instructions again.
The colour sequence is B, C, A, B, and C. There are only two bands of each colour in this blanket.
Another Easy to Follow Blanket
Named the Crochet Christmas Elf Throw, also using Caron One Pound. I looked at colours inside digital art that shows Santa's Toy Shop. Easy going up and down waves without a lot of thought as the repeating is pretty easy.

I love this blanket. I have completed two repeats of this so far and no issues. I also love all the different stitches.
