For our retreat attendees at the Ididachain Crochet Guild of Alaska, which I am hosting for a few days, I'm asking that you pick up some yarn and/or look at your own collection to bring some extra yarn with you.
I understand you have a JOANN Fabrics and Crafts in Anchorage, and I know some of you are also travelling to Alaska to meet up with us there.
JOANN Fabrics and Crafts is located at 3801 Old Seward Highway in Anchorage. I understand it's a new formatted store as well. Give the big yarn wall a hug from me.
With the help of Yarnspirations.com, I have already shipped two balls each of Bernat Symphony to Anchorage and two balls of Bernat Plush yarn for each of you. This is Yarnspirations giving you an extra treat for my arrival.
After reviewing the schedule, I require you to get two more balls of Bernat Symphony yarn for each of you. The balls are for two different projects for wearables, so they don't need to be the same colour.
I recommend that you group your orders from Yarnspirations to avoid paying individual shipping costs per retreater.
If you want to substitute the yarn, you must look at the ball band for the matching information.
- At a maximum of 309 yards / 282 meters per ball, one project will use about 75%, while the other uses most of that.
- The hook size recommendation is 6.5 mm or K/10.5.
- Bulky Weight #5. This matters a lot for one project; for for the other, if you go with a 4-ply worsted medium weight, it will be lighter.
Be advised that Bernat Symphony is a wool-mix product that will provide extra warmth in the winter for the projects I have in mind.
Please bring hook sizes of 5 mm / H/8, 5.5 mm / I/9, 6 mm / J/10, and 6.5 mm / K/10.5. You can also bring other patterns in mind just in case you prefer to work on something different with the yarn provided. There is no pressure.
This retreat is in a lodge, sold out, and hosted by the guild.
The temperature average for this region is between 35 and 55 degrees. Please bring clothing that reflects that. It will most likely be raining, but our event is completely indoors. You should not expect it to snow, but there may be flurries if the temperature sinks a bit.
