If you love big balls, you may just love the Bernat Maker Home Dec Yarn. This yarn seems to go on forever and is a favourite of my own personal choice yarns too. I don't see many people talking about this yarn and I think it's a shame really. I think it's a great yarn that may be overlooked by crocheters when seeing it on the shelf.
This yarn was discontinued but brought back again in 2024 under the simpler name of Bernat Maker.
The advantage of the yarn is the mix of fibers used. It has cotton and nylon. The cotton allows the projects to breathe. With cotton, you can keep your body temperature regulated better. Cooler in summer, warmer in the winter. It's remarkable.
This is a perfect choice to get new crocheters interested in crochet. With the tubular design, you don't have worries of plies splitting. The yarn glides through your fingers and hook like buttah! It's fabulous.
Most of the free patterns, actually all but one has a free tutorial to follow. I love this yarn so much, I have done most of the free patterns in tutorial format on Yarnspirations.com.
Try something new and give this a whirl on your hook. We've brought this to two crochet cruises so far and people are so surprised on how great it is. It's something they have overlooked and realized what they were missing.

Mikey, please help!!! Im making a purse/bag out of the Bernat Maker Home Dec yarn (first time using this yarn). I started out with a 6.0 hook, too "holey", so i kept going down a hook size. The problem is, im down to a 3.75 hook and I can still see the holes. I know i could just do a liner inside but i would still be able to see the liner. I tried crocheting looser but that didn't help either. What should i do?

Does the yarn feel soft like cotton or slippery like nylon?

I would say in between those descriptions.
