Bernat Bricks Blanket
This easy Bernat Bricks Blanket is super quick using Bernat Blanket Yarn. This yarn is ultra-thick and intended for making chunky and lightweight home decor blankets.
Bernat Blanket comes in two formats. As in the pattern, it is the standard Bernat Blanket Yarn. There is also Bernat Baby Blanket yarn. What is the difference?
The difference between the two is the colour palette. You can mix and match both brands together as the yarn weight and yardage are the same. The difference is that the baby version has colours suitable for the baby that are either fun and bright or light and pastel colours. There are several colours to choose from.
In the original format, as in the pattern provided, the colours are darker and have a wide range of colours that punch or colours that are more subtle and neutral. We each have our own preferences and the number of colours that are available lends itself to meet the needs of many for their own personal colour choices.

In the written pattern for the Bricks Blanket, "4th row: Ch 3 (counts as dc). *3 dc in next ch-4 sp. Yoh and draw up a loop around post of next dc 2 rows below at front of work inserting hook from left to right. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice – long dcfp made." The pattern say to insert hook from LEFT to RIGHT around the post. You show RIGHT to LEFT in this step. Which is the proper way to do the pattern? Just wondering as it changes the look of the "ridge" depending which way you do it. Thanks.

Oh my gosh I have been wracking my brain over this. It seem far too inconvenient to go left to right on the front, so I didn't it right to left instead and it looks exactly like the picture

Thanks for this video tutorial! I usually only follow written patterns, but was confused on row 4 where it says to insert the hook from left to right for the long fpdc. My brain did not want to do it, so I watched your video and you did it the way I always did for front post - right to left. Thanks again!

The only Bernat Blanket I have home is a multicolor and I used it to follow along with the tutorial this morning. I will say, once you understand what you're doing (thanks to the fabulous Mikey!), it is an easy pattern to follow. Unfortunately, the different colors of the multicolor yarn makes you lose the striking affect of the pattern, and the long posts don't have as much impact. I will make this pattern at some point, but I would only use it with a single color yarn.
