The Crochet Gigi's Block Party Blanket is freshly revised using Bernat POP yarn. A crocheter, Laura Thiele, a friend, took it upon herself to crochet the sample for her pleasure to revise the stitch counts for the entire blanket.
I hope you enjoy crocheting this new blanket today, Gigi's Block Party Blanket. It's another combination of my two best patterns - The Hugs & Kisses Blanket and the Modern Granny!

Revised Version
Laura, who retested the pattern, used colour strategy. She used Red Heart Bitty Stripes in the colours called Horizon and Moonbeam. She used 2.5 balls of each. You can use the picture to see how she did the colours.

Keeping up with my love for self-striping yarn, I chose to use Bernat POP! in Blue Streak for this blanket. I used nine balls to crochet this blanket to a finished size of 56" square.

I am on row 66. I want to make it bigger. What row do l start with to do that.
Marina King says
Try alternating the 2 transition sections and when you reach your desired size, then do your border rounds.

I'm super confused about row 23. Sl to corner. The First corner or each corner.....the very first corner is literally 1 stitch away. I'm so lost.
Mikey says
She means sl st to the middle st of the joining corner. Not each corner. 🙂 I just filmed this up. I will have it available later tonight.

Thank you for filming Gigis pattern. I want to make this blanket but I have a difficult time following patterns.
Jennifer HS says

Annie Reese says
Hi,to whom who reads this,
On the Gigi pattern, round 7, I had to adjust where you have
Rnd 7: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st as join, dc in each st to marked corner, *5 dc in corner st, dc in each st to marked corner; rep from * twice more, 2 dc in same st as beg ch 3, sl st to beg ch 3. – 88 dc
I had to sl st to corner THEN ch3 , 2dc in same st as join, or it makes beginning corner wonky.
Mikey says
The SL ST to corner based on round 6 is actually the corner. Round 6 ends with a sl st to beg sc which is the middle st of the corner. I just filmed this morning... so I get what you are saying. Look to rnd 6 when you ended. If you feel your adjustment worked for you, that's terrific! 😀
