Back to the basics, well sort of with this Crochet Modern Chevron Afghan that I designed. A beautiful play on those squares I love so much combined with my other favourite stitchwork of doing the chevron design.
This is actually my second attempt at the same design. The first design, I LIKED it... but didn't LOVE it! So I retried using a completely different colour scheme. Shows how colour can make or break your love for a project. This particular afghan has nostalgic feelings for me.
My first memory of anything crocheted is a chevron blanket that graced the back of our living room sofa. It was a striped single crocheted design made by my mom from the 1960's era, which is when I grew up. I created this afghan as an updated tribute to the chevrons of the past. This blanket features the block stitch and color pattern gives it an interesting designer look.
Finished size 50" x 64".

Where's the pattern for the one with the flowers? I really like to do that one, please notify me on it, please.
Mikey says
What pattern? Is it a blanket? Hat? Scarf? Headband? Can you be more specific?
Cindy Grau says
It's a blanket, that has flowers in the corner granny square, designed by Jeanne Steinhilber. Looks like beige yarn with pink flowers and teal leaves.
Mikey says
I don't recall anything like that. Have you looked through the designs by Jeanne in the free pattern menu? All of her designs are there in a massive list.
Cindy Grau says
It's a crochet modern chevron.

I did look as much as I could. I looked again and the pattern was designed by Tertia Mulder and Jeanne Steinhilber on April 19, 2918. And also has this website that I don't think is any longer. Stylesidea.com.
Mikey, I really appreciate you helping me with this. I just love following you Tutorials, it helps me out a lot.
I just really want to make this afghan, for somebody who just a baby girl. If you can get me the pattern it would be so very helpful.
Mikey says
I recall Jeanne doing a blanket of someone else. I'm ask her...
Mikey says
I don't know what exactly I am looking for. I have looked up the designer you said but she has many. Which one am I supposed to be looking at?
Mikey says
I spoke to Jeanne. She's never designed or even crocheted a blanket with Flowers in the corners and such. She says she's not that fancy of a designer and thinks you may have her confused with another designer. We also looked up the Tertia person. We've never seen her work before. You most likely have the wrong designer. Jeanne wouldn't have the permission like this to duplicate or redesign a design that is not within the Yarnspirations Family of patterns due to legal reasons.
I'm sorry. We are at a loss on which afghan you are speaking of.
