Crochet Modern Granny Winter Scarf
This Crochet Modern Granny Winter Scarf hooks up super quick and the pattern design is perfect for the long color changes of Caron Cakes yarn. I used regular Cakes, just a bit over one Cake. My winter scarf weighs 9.7 oz, so I think it would work out great with using just one Caron Big Cake ball of yarn.
Of course, you can use your preferred worsted weight yarn. There are so many color options you can choose for this scarf. Think about school colors and favorite sports teams when planning your colors!

I’m finding the row two is buckling badly and can’t get past the buckling. Please help?

Loved this pattern! I found I needed to go up a hook size for the first 81 rows, and then back down to H for the rounds, in case anyone else crochets a little tight like me. 🙂 So excited to wear it, ripples and all! 🙂

Thank you for posting info on using a larger hook for the first 81 rows to keep rippling to a minimum. The first one I made, I used the hook size the pattern called for and it rippled significantly. I reviewed comments and thought I would give your idea a try for the second one. I used the larger hook for the firat 81 rows, then went back to the pattern hook for the rest. Second scarf turned out much better with minimal rippling.

Oh good, I'm so glad! I still had some rippling so I'm about to try a third one going all the way up to a J for the middle. Fingers crossed.

I am 2 years into crochet and just now started reading patterns. The end of row 2 and start of row 3 has me stuck. And has for days. I'm on the verge of frogging or letting it sit in a project bag. Do you have a picture or any further instructions to get me unstuck? Thank you for your time.
Jeanne - The Crochet Crowd says
Row 3 is the same as row 2. There is a photo of row 2 completed.
Kristen says
I'm sorry, I meant to say round, not row. (Thank you for your reply!). I got through the end of round 2 and am completely confused.
Kristen says
If you have a picture of where the end of round 2 goes and how round three starts that would be helpful. Arrows on the finished product or something. I am very frustrated and am on the verge of letting this project rot in a box. Thank you for your time.
Elken says
I agree. On the rounds I don't understand. It tell in Ch 1 so and there isn't a ch1 on round 3
Kristen says
Ellen, I'm relieved I'm not the only one ?
