Crochet Prayer Shawl

Initially, the instructions for this Crochet Prayer Shawl are daunting. For me, I had about 5 false starts on this project. For me, I had to clear my mind and grab my pencil to draw what is happening in the 1st row. From then on, I was finally able to put trust in the pattern and hook it up.

In the tutorial, I show you the little diagram I made and explain how this shawl works. Once you get it, you will think "AH HA!!! I've got this!"

This shawl starts at the top and works down to the point. So each row, you get less and less and you speed up to the end of the project.

I break down the mystery in the tutorial and you will have a success story. Enjoy

I thought you said this shawl was started at the bottom and worked up. The printed instructions say it is worked from the top down? Would you please clarify for me? Also, in your demo you are not placing the stitches in the back loop
Are they supposed to be? Thank you very much for your kind assistance.

I read that too but it doesn't seem possible.

Thanks for the tutorial!! How many balls of Caron cakes did you use?

    Hi!

I'm learning to crochet. I've been watching your video and have some questions:

    1. Why did you do the first row with each stitch placed in the back of the chain?
    2. When you do the cluster, do you enter the first part into a chain or into the big 'hole space' below the chain stitch.
    3. Why did you turn the work at the end of each row?

I'm eager to try this shawl!
