Sunday Ribbed Scarf

If you need a quick idea for a last minute gift, crochet this Sunday Ribbed Scarf.  I hooked this up in really just a few hours on a quiet Sunday afternoon.  I had been wanted to design something using half double crochet for a while now.  It's not my favorite stitch, but when I held a poll in our Stitch Social Group, it was by far the favorite stitch of the crocheters.

The entire scarf is worked in the back loop only to create the ribbed texture of this warm scarf.  It is also quiet fashionable as it gives the appearance of a cowl neckline, with slim tails on either side.  You could embellish your scarf if you have a second Cake with pom poms or tassels if you desire.  The finished size is 12" by 80".

Thank you for the pattern I am just about finished my scarf . I did make it slightly smaller went to 45 hdc instead of 50 so that Id have enough yarn for pompoms and the scarf still looks just as lovely.

Love this scarf but how is it possible it only measures 12" x 80"? I'm on row 47 and it already measures 12" across.

Sounds like you are increasing every row, instead of only increasing every other row?

Says place 2 HDC 3rd Chain from the hook. So count back to the 3 chain from the hook and put in 2 HDC.

This is for Sue..after beginning to make this scarf I understand what you mean . Where it says "turn - 2 hdc" it does not mean to put 2 more hdc anywhere. It is telling you that you have 2 hdc made. If you continue to read the pattern it goes on to sa that every other row you have one more hdc. "Turn - 3 hdc". "Turn - 4 hdc". etc.

Thank you, Kate, I got confused, too. Now it´s perfectly clear.

I love the simplicity of the design, it´s got a scandinavian feel about it.
