Crochet Groovy Baby Hat
Would you like your baby hat to have a bit of style without having to do too much with the design? This hat is utilizing the back and front posts instead of just going into the stitches. It makes for a very large deep groove and neat design. This hat design will fit 6 months - 1 year old child.

Materials:
Size G Crochet Hook or 4.5 MM
Yarn Suggestions:
Only 1 Ball needed that is 100 g or 3.5 oz. It is considered a number 3 or light weight yarn. Picture is of Bernat Baby Coordinates Yarn. You could use the follow types of yarns as well. Changing the yarn weight or size of the hook will change the size of the finish project.

Definitions:
- Hat Size is 8" from top to bottom.
- Brim is rolled up 1".
- Brim diameter is 6.5" unstretched.
Free Pattern:
This pattern works in a continuous circle. We work with back and front posts to achieve this pattern. The basket weave stitch is in groups of 6. There is 3 rows between the basket transition. We need to ensure you are matching the posts properly and we have to ensure when we are grabbing a post by the opposite side that it's on purpose to match the pattern properly. Step 3 is critical for establishing this pattern properly.
- Ch 3, HDC 6 times into the BEG CH to form circle. SL ST to the top of the BEG CH.
- CH 2, 2 HDC into each stitch. SL ST to the top of the BEG CH
- CH 2, *First stitch is FPDC, next stitch gets 2 FPDC around the same post. Next stitch gets BPDC, next stitch gets 2 BPDC. Repeat from *all the way around. SL ST at the top of the BEG CH.
- CH 2, *First two stitches gets FPDC, next stitch gets 2 FPDC around the same post. Next two stitches gets BPDC, next stitch gets 2 BPDC. Repeat from * all the way around. SL ST at the top of the BEG CH.
- CH 2, *First three stitches gets FPDC, next stitch gets 2 FPDC around the same post. Next three stitches get BPDC, next stitch gets 2 BPDC. Repeat from * all the way around. SL ST at the top of the BEG CH.
- CH 2, *First four stitches get FPDC, next stitch gets 2 FPDC around the same post. Next four stitches get BPDC, next stitch 2 BPDC. Repeat from * all the way around. ST ST at the top of the BEG CH.
- CH 2, follow same posts that are underneath. Please ensure you match the FPDC and BPDC to keep the ribbed effect going. SL ST at the top of the BEG CH.
- Repeat Step 7 - 14 times.
- CH 2 and HDC all the way around. SL ST to the top of the BEG CH.
- Repeat step 19 - 4 times.
- Fasten off and weave in the ends.

I just finished an adult version of this. I continued increasing by 6 stitches each round until I got to 66 stirches around. 11 fpdc, then 11 bpdc around. Then follow the pattern until you reach the desired length. I do dishes with 4 rounds of sc. I came out amazing!
