A play on 'Mélange à trois, these three hats pair together making three's a crowd. Choose the one you want to stay. Vote the other 2 out.
The original design was a slouchy format which is the biggest hat in this average adult collection. For myself, I don't like to wear a slouchy and I was thinking about Daniel as he prefers beanies. So I redid the math and formed a new sample to shorten it down and alter the brim. Fits like a gem.
For myself, I prefer a toque version with a rolled rim and a pom pom. So I shortened down the slouchy to go between the size of beanie and slouchy.
The original pattern was using Red Heart Ombre. It's called the Crochet Shell Stitch Basic Hat and forms a slouchy size. It also has a matching scarf in similar format with the ombre. It's called the Crochet Shell Stitch Basic Scarf.
Lately Though
I have been hitting the Red Heart Roll With It Melange hard. Let the colours play their own tune. The colours of the Three's A Crowd Hat are called Hollywood. You can get two hats out of one ball for most of the sizes. I'm obsessed.
The three sample sizes just took 2 balls but I can still get another Beanie out of the yarn that's left. If you decide to make a handmade pom pom it will reduce how much yarn you have left and you can just slap on a faux fur pom pom to make for a quick happy ending.

If you tie the pom pom like a bow tie inside the hat, the pom pom can be removed for washing.

I like the second one! I'm not one for slouchy and the other one needs something....for what my opinion is worth, I love everything you do and you shouldn't take the bad comments to heart. You have helped thousands of crocheters through the years and I'm sure there are more likes than dislikes! Keep up the good work and know that us "long timers" appreciate everything you do.

YES Mikey! Film it up! I would love to see a youtube tutorial for this as I'm a visual learner too, and can't read a pattern to save my life, lol!
