What To Do with Bernat Velvet Yarn

Daniel and I are predicting the Bernat Velvet yarn to be one of the biggest yarns for 2018 / 2019. Once you feel it, hook with it... you may just fall in love with it. Perfectly coloured natural shimmer. It's heaven gliding through your fingers.

This product is available at Joann Fabrics & Crafts, Michaels and Walmart. Other retailers may be carrying this product as well. Some of the retailers may be carrying only select colours. See a store near you.

I've crocheted a scarf and afghan with this yarn. Words hardly describe it. My friend Shannon is wearing one of the patterns I did for this product. The pattern will be released in the future.

While the yarn looks and feels gorgeous, I am incredibly disappointed with the quality. In the first 25 yards of the yarn, I found 3 joins. Thankfully, I'm using it for amiguruni so I'm able to hide the joints inside. When I first purchase the yarn prior to working with it, I also intended to use it to make an afghan. Due to the frequency of joins, though, I won't be doing that. What a shame as thrbyarn feels so beautiful. I just don't want to be stopping my afghan ever 10-12 yards to work in loose ends.

You should contact Yarnspirations if you are unsatisfied.

      Hi Aly,
I suggest you give this yarn another try. I just bought two balls myself and haven't found that issue so it might just be that ball in particular. I have started multiple projects with it. I really enjoy feeling it flow through my fingers.

I have had this same issue, making an afghan for a gift on my 3rd ball and each has had several joins. But still going to finish because it's stunning. Wish there was a video on the lattice Shell afghan, started that several times (which is why I bought the yarn) no matter what it was so loose and looked holey. I am sure it was user error, but switched to checkerboard. If I can figure out what I am doing wrong will give the Lattice Shell another try - I bought enough yarn to make 2.

Don't buy from Hobby Lobby. Those have lots of joints. Buy anywhere else but it has to be Bernat velvet, nothing else.

I want to try a sweater with this. Any pattern suggestions?

This yarn is amazing, soft as an angel's kiss! However, I'm using it for an amigurumi penguin pattern by Irene Strange, and I have no trouble breaking it by hand.
