What To Do with Bernat Velvet Yarn

Daniel and I are predicting the Bernat Velvet yarn to be one of the biggest yarns for 2018 / 2019. Once you feel it, hook with it... you may just fall in love with it. Perfectly coloured natural shimmer. It's heaven gliding through your fingers.

This product is available at Joann Fabrics & Crafts, Michaels and Walmart. Other retailers may be carrying this product as well. Some of the retailers may be carrying only select colours. See a store near you.

I've crocheted a scarf and afghan with this yarn. Words hardly describe it. My friend Shannon is wearing one of the patterns I did for this product. The pattern will be released in the future.

I am doing a blanket with this yarn and I am extremely disappointed with it. There are so many joins in each ball (I am up to my 4th ball of yarn, joins in everyone of them). The other thing I have noticed is that is changes texture at some of the joins as well at the look. It goes from velvety feeling to almost a fuzzy feeling and the yarn looks varegated (not sure how else to describe it). I find it really noticeable and as a result have several half balls of yarn I cannot use. I definately will not be using it again!

Laura, i to was a little disappointed with the velvet yarn while making a throw, ( i didn't finish). Some parts look like you have a hole or missed a switch. I thought i would finish, then wash it and it might straighten that out. I thought maybe it was the stitch, double or half double. What stitch were you using?

If you go to youtube and search for "How to crochet a blanket poncho velvet" a video gives instructions for a poncho using the Bernat Velvet. It's gorgeous. I haven't started it yet, but I have Joann's coupons for October 4th 50% off regular price. I'll be buying the Bernat velvet and making myself a poncho!

How do you join yarn with this? I tried a magic knot and several others and the knots wouldn’t stay. It’s also too thick to just cross cross, so what do you recommend? Thanks!
