Daniel and I are predicting the Bernat Velvet yarn to be one of the biggest yarns for 2018 / 2019. Once you feel it, hook with it... you may just fall in love with it. Perfectly coloured natural shimmer. It's heaven gliding through your fingers.
This product is available at Joann Fabrics & Crafts, Michaels and Walmart. Other retailers may be carrying this product as well. Some of the retailers may be carrying only select colours. See a store near you.
I've crocheted a scarf and afghan with this yarn. Words hardly describe it. My friend Shannon is wearing one of the patterns I did for this product. The pattern will be released in the future.

I am seeing hand wash and dry flat for an afghan? 🙁
Ugh I don't think that will be very practical - I wish I would have noticed when I purchased.

I recently made some beanie hats with this velvet yarn. I like to wash my products to "set the fiber" so I tried doing this ..wash on cool water cycle on DELICATE cycle but be sure to use A MESH LAUNDRY BAG...and if you're going to make a blanket, invest in one of those extra large bags and BE SURE TO USE IT TO WASH THIS. You will then, throw it in the dryer on low heat with it STILL IN THE BAG...but removing it from the dryer STILL damp. Then, lay it out to block and dry. My beanies turn out really nice that way!
No quarentees, but I bet this would work with a larger product, too!
Suggest this to Yarnspirations, and maybe they can give this procedure a "test drive".

I recently made some beanies with this velvet yarn . They turned out great using this procedure. Place the product in a MESH LAUNDRY BAG and wash on a cool cycle that is set on DELICATE. If you are doing a blanket, you can find the mesh laundry bags in extra large and a blanket would probably fit in one of those. They're usually the ones that the kids take away to college. They are pretty big. Once the washer has stopped, throw the product into the dryer WHILE STILL IN THE BAG and set it on the low setting. Remove it still damp, then take it out of the mesh bag and laid out flat to dry. My beanies turned out wonderful that way. Have yarnspirations look into trying that to see if they can do it that way. As far as having too many tie-offs on the yarn, just weave then in after re-cutting them, so they have a longer tail and weave them in using a darning-needle. You really can't see them at all that way.

I had the same problem, Kris, but I made my own way, tried a number of stitches that didn't work, then found the DC3Tog, which is making a wonderful, beautiful, lush afghan. The question is how many rows of which color, in what order to achieve the look I want.

I made my mother a shawl out of this yarn. It washes and dries great on the lower settings of my machines. Have washed 3 times and no problems. I do tie the ends in a knot before weaving in the ends. Love how soft it feels.

love this yarn just made a scarf with it. I did find a lot of joins though.
Looking for a pattern for a hat. If you have one.

I am on my second crocheted ribbed beanie hat and adding a faux fur pom pom..and matching infinityscarf.. It took a while to get used to this yarn cuz it's so slick, but have had only one skein with a join in the middle. Remember to hand wash your product once done..and not to machine wash it. If you want to dry it in the dryer, be sure to use a mesh laundry bag. If not, it could loose some of its fibers.
Next I will be making some scrunchies with it.
