This 70" long by 7" tosh double-knit Madelintosh yarn crochet scarf used a 4mm / G/6 scarf was created while Nova Scotia was going to face a storm. Turning off the computer before the power out, grabbing a hook. I put the time to use for a 100% superwash merino wool scarf.
Madelinetosh Tosh DK Yarn is made by Jimmy Beans Wool. I used 2 hanks in the colour called Bonaire. This is an easy 4-row repeating pattern.
One thing that bothers me the most is when there are fans and trellis stitches, and though it looks nice as one unit, once draped around the neck, one side is upside down. That cannot happen.
Back Seaming Option
I crocheted the scarf as one-half first using one hank from the start until most of the hang was gone, which, in this case, was 35" long.
I then take the second hang and begin again but use the beginning chain of the first section as the base of the second half. This puts the seam behind your neck and ensures that both sides when wearing it are in the same draping position. Essentially, one side is not upside down.

Rep 4th to 7th rows until measures approximately 34". then rep 4th and 5th rows once more. Fasten off.
Second Half of Scarf
Turn the scarf over to the WS (wrong side) and use the beginning chain-row at the base. The first row will be on the WS to ensure the RS of the 3rd row is the same side of the first half's 3rd row. .
Attach at the beginning of the row and repeat 2nd and 3rd rows above.
Rep 4th to 7th rows until measures approximately 34" for this half. then rep 4th and 5th rows once more. Fasten off.
For best results, I suggest blocking the scarf with light light or damp blocking.

For beginners, you may just love this easy-flowing. With the help of the colour wheel, I kept doing contrasting colours beside each other. It was pretty addictive. This is the Color Wheel Crochet Striped Scarf.
A little fancier is the Crochet Wave Wrap. Designed for cruising and matching to a casual wearing outfit. It's more accessory than warmth, obviously.
